Communism

A project for World History asked us to create a poster for an 18th-century "ism". Here is the Finished Product as well as an Analysis of the Poster

In this poster, you see the remnants of what was " The Creation Of Adam " by Leonardo DaVinci. In it, God has been Replaced by Karl Marx, and two of the Cherubs with Friedrich Engles and Lenin. In Communist beliefs, Religion is mostly not accepted. Creating a parody of a famous religious painting shows that; people practicing communism would replace God with Men like Marx, and take on idols like Lenin. In many communist posters from the 20th Century, the use of hands pointing forward was to signify communism as progress, so Marx's hand spreading communism(red) is shown in this way. His hand is also reaching towards, what is supposed to be, Adam and is going to free him from his chains. The chains are gold to signify Capitalism and what Marx considered was a classist society. Communism was made to break these.
